A. Instruction to the candidates for B.Sc. (Honours) courses (Code: BSC) in different core subjects
 
Candidates can apply in a single form for all core subjects from any of the 2 groups of core subjects stated below by mentioning the chosen subjects in order of their preferences, which will be subject to conformity with the relevant eligibility criteria.
Separate application forms will be required for subjects belonging to different groups and there will be separate All-India admission tests for each of the groups.
 
Group of core subjects for B.Sc. (Honours) courses (Code: BSC):Paper I (Code: 1)–Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics,
Statistics and Computer Science.
(Physical Science)
 
Paper II (Code: 2)–Botany and Zoology.
(Life Science)

B Eligibility criteria for admission to under-graduate courses [3-year Six Semester B.Sc.(Hons.)] (Code: BSC 31)
through admission tests
 
(a) A candidate (external, internal and staff ward) seeking admission to under graduatecourses should pass the pre-degree  or equivalent examination under10+2 pattern with at least three subjects out of Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, Life Science/Biological Science, Statistics and Computer Science (as shown in table below).
 
(b) General and OBC Candidates:
Passed Higher Secondary Examination under 10+2 pattern(excluding vocational stream) or its equivalent (securing at least 60% marks in aggregate for general category) subject to fulfillment of the requirements for subject combinations and marks in respect of the department concerned as shown in the table below.
 
(c) SC/ST Candidates: Passed Higher Secondary or equivalent examination under 10+2 pattern (excluding vocational stream) with at least three subjects out of Physics, Chemistry,Mathematics, Life Science/Biological Science, Statistics and Computer Science,subject to fulfillment of the requirement regarding subject combinations of thedepartment concerned.
 
(d) NTS Scholars: Regular NTS Scholars (certificate issued by the NCERT, New Delhi) maybe admitted directly to B.Sc. (Hons.) subject to fulfillment of departmental requirements.
Note:
 
(i)   For calculation of percentage of aggregate marks secured by a candidate whose statement of marks does not show the aggregate, marks secured by the candidate in all the subjects offered and as shown in the mark sheet will be considered.
 
(ii)  The original documents and their attested photocopies must be produced only at the time of counseling.

C. Modalities for preparing merit list for admission to B.Sc. (Hons.) courses through All India Admission Test:
Marks secured in written admission test:out of 100
1.The qualifying marks in admission test shall be 30% for general candidates and 27% for OBC candidates.There shall be no eligibility marks in case of SC/ST candidates.
 2.The date of announcement of the results of Admission Test of B.Sc. (Hons.) will be notified in the university website.
 
D. Allied subjects offered in B.Sc. (Honours) Courses: Students seeking admission to B.Sc.(Hons.) courses shall be required to take one subject as Honours (Core) and two other allied subjects as per the following scheme:
 
All under-graduate students shall be required to study non-credit foundation courses onTagore Studies in the First and Second Semester and Environmental Studies in the Third and Fourth Semester.
 
G.General criteria foradmission to B.Sc. (Honours) courses (Code: BSC 31) for internal candidates:
(a) For direct admission:
 
1. Internal candidates are admitted strictly on the basis of merit and availability of seats in each department provided they secure at least 60% marks in aggregate for general category (54%marks in case of OBC category) in the Pre-Degree(PD)Examination of Visva-Bharati with atleast three subjects out of Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, Life Science, Statistics and Computer Science, subject to fulfillment of departmental requirements as shown in the Table below.
2. SC/ST Candidates: Passed in Pre-Degree Examination, subject to fulfillment of therequirement regarding subject combinations of the department concerned as show the Tablel below.
3. No rounding off in marks in aggregate and /or subject will be considered.
4. There shall be no direct admission to B.Sc. (Hons.) in Computer Science Course.
 
(b) For admission of internal candidates (not fulfilling the criteria for direct admission procedure) and staff ward (other than internal) through admission tests:
An internal or staff ward candidate of the current year securing at least 45% marks in aggregate for general category (40.5% in case of OBC category) at the +2 level, subject to fulfillment of departmental requirements regarding subject combinations as shown in table below, is eligible toapply. The date, time and venue of the admission tests will be the same as those for the external candidates (GeneralandOBC).
